Institutional Quality Assurance Procedures (IQAP)
Policies 2.1 and 2.2 constitute Laurier's IQAP and outline the responsibilities and process for the development of new programs, major and minor modifications to existing programs and for the cyclical review of programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Taxonomy of Curriculum Changes and Associated Approval Processes
The following document has been excerpted from Policy 2.2 and can be used to help determine the category into which a proposed curriculum change would fall. It also outlines the steps that must be taken in order to secure approval for the program change.
Below is the current schedule for cyclical reviews for both undergraduate and graduate programs through until the 2024-2025 review year.
Laurier Degree Level Expectations
In 2005, the Ontario Council of Academic Vice-Presidents created a set of undergraduate and graduate Degree Level Expectations that have been adopted as Laurier's institutional Degree Level Expectations. These documents will be useful to academic units preparing new program proposals and completing their cyclical review self-studies.
Ministry Certifying Criteria
The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Certifying Criteria outlines factors that should be taken into consideration in the development of new academic programs. Many of these factors are captured in Laurier's IQAP and the New Program Proposal Brief template.
PEQAB Ontario Qualifications Framework
The Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) Degree Level Standards document outlines appropriate degree nomenclature as well as the general competencies for each degree level. Units completing New Program Proposals may find this document useful.
Quality Assurance Framework
The Quality Assurance Framework and Guide is published by the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance. This document was used by Laurier to establish its new Institutional Quality Assurance Procedures.
