Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)

OSAP Overview

OSAP is available for eligible students to receive an integrated loan funded by the Province of Ontario and Government of Canada. These loans are interest-free until graduation or until you cease full time studies; repayment begins six months later. OSAP's objective is to help students from lower income families meet the costs of post-secondary education, including tuition, books, supplies and basic living expenses. OSAP is not intended to supply all of the funding to meet these costs.  Its purpose is to supplement, not to replace, the financial resources that you and your family are expected to contribute.

Government Programs

Students may also be eligible for Canada Study Grants, Canada Access Grants and Ontario Access Grants based on financial need and/or academic merit.

Note: The Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship and Textbook and Technology Grant will be discontinued beginning in 2012-2013 as part of a refocusing of supports for students. No new scholarships will be awarded for 2012-2013.

The Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship will be phased out gradually over three years. Current holders of this scholarship will be eligible to renew their awards based on their academic progress. Please visit the OSAP website for further information available to current students regarding the Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarship.
