Laurierís Department of Physics & Computer Science is a multidisciplinary department whose faculty membersí backgrounds in computer science, engineering, mathematics, and physics combine to deliver traditional programs such as Computer Science and Physics as well as unique interdisciplinary programs in Computing & Computer Electronics and Photonics. In combination with Laurier's well known School of Business and Economics, we also offer two unique double degree programs in Business and Computer Science and Business and Computing & Computer Electronics. No matter which program you choose, you will benefit from the smaller class sizes and the integrated laboratory component.
All of our single degree programs have a common first year consisting of computer science, physics, mathematics, electronics and an elective of your own choice. The interdisciplinary common first year allows you to try out various academic areas to discover where your talents lie. Although exposure to high school computer science and physics is useful, the first year computer science and physics courses will provide you with the required background. Admittedly, you will have to work a little harder but we do not want to eliminate potentially talented students. Not all students have the opportunity to take these courses at their high school.
Our programs are intended for students who are interested in technology. Not sure which program is for you? Does more than one program sound interesting? Come do a year with us and discover your passions. Our interdisciplinary first year allows you to switch programs at the end of first year without losing any momentum or time. You cannot make a wrong choice.
