Media Studies Option
As our world continues to develop and employ
technology, the information we consume and the interactions we have with other
people are become increasingly mediated. We see the world largely through
images shaped by complex, often commercially and politically influenced
processes of production and distribution.
The Media Studies option is designed to increase media literacy, including
critical thinking about the validity of information available through
technology. The program will provide a framework to access, analyze, evaluate
and create messages in a variety of forms – from print and video to online
content, in a world where “wikis” and user-generated content allow for a
collaborative approach to information creation and distribution.
