Ambassador Profile - Erine
My Laurier Brantford Experience
Hi! My name is Erine Roberts and I am currently a 3rd year student at Laurier Brantford completing a double major in Youth and Children’s Studies/ Human Rights and Human Diversity.
The reasons why I choose Laurier was because of the small class sizes which enabled me to fully participate and actively engage in my overall learning experience. The small class sizes allowed me to a have a better relationship with my teachers because I got to benefit from more one on one time. It is truly an amazing and rare occurrence that a professor knows not only that you are in their class, but also know you on a first name basis. This is one of the ways to me that Laurier Brantford demonstrates that they care about the success of their students.
Secondly because Laurier is such a small campus it allows students to experience a close knit community atmosphere while living in somewhat of a larger city. One of the things that I really enjoy is walking through campus and realizing I know a great deal of the students. This is very important for me because I am always surrounded by people who know and care for me and I never feel isolated from anyone. There is always someone around with a friendly smile, a hug, words of encouragement or even a listening ear.
My word of advice to everyone is, try to submerge yourself into campus life. Laurier offers an abundance of intramurals and extramural teams and a wide array of campus clubs. There is always some event or free give away that are happening on campus. Additional there are many workshops; such as get Diversity week, which allows students to gain information and participate in various diversity events which happen on campus. There is always something going. I have been a part of many clubs and participated in many of the workshops at Laurier and they have been some of the best experiences of my life.
I am excited to be an incoming student ambassador for the 2013/2014 school year. I hope that you choose Laurier because you will not just be choosing a school; you will be choosing a family.
