Karina Flores Chienda

3rd year Business Administration Karina

Lima, Perú

Hello there! My name is Karina Flores Chienda and I am very excited to be one of the International Ambassadors for the 2014/15 year! I am in my third year of the Honors Bachelor of Business Administration Program and this past summer I completed my first co-op term at ChangeIt! I am not an international student but I was born and raised in Lima, Perú until the age of nine. Though I left my country to move to Canada at this young age, I maintained a strong and emotional connection to my ethnic Latin roots.

While moving away from home is a hard decision, it is your chance to have a brighter future. I chose Laurier because of its fine combination of academics, school spirit, and family-like community. I believed Laurier would give me a second home but it did more than just that; it gave me opportunities and allowed me to grow in ways I never thought possible. I lived in residence for my first year in the Residence Learning Community, Scholar’s Hall. Living in residence is such an amazing opportunity and one that I definitely recommend. Laurier is a school where you can find clubs that fit your talents and interests. One of the highlights of my first year was being part of the club Fashion ‘n’ Motion. I owe so much to this club because it allowed me to meet so many people as I got to dance and express my love for fashion. Laurier’s small sized campus makes it easy for everyone to feel a part of the community no matter where you are from.

I strongly believe that when picking a school, you must consider many factors but above all you must follow your heart. I am positive you will make a fantastic choice and I wish you the best of luck in the process. I hope to see you around the Wilfrid Laurier Campus next year wearing your golden pride!
