Albert Niño S. Alberto

3rd Year Business Administration

Taytay, Rizal, Philippines

Hi! My name is Albert Niño, and I am from Taytay, Rizal. I am currently in my third year in the Business Administration program, and I am incredibly excited to be an International Ambassador this year.

My family immigrated to Canada in 2007 after I finished my 2nd year of High School at Siena College Taytay. I graduated in 2011 from St. Thomas Aquinas S.S., but not before being accepted into Laurier at the very last day of admissions. I thought I was not going to have the chance to come to Laurier, but a good friend of mine urged me to follow up with the admissions office. Now, I am forever thankful to him for encouraging me to make that call because it allowed me to have some of the best times of my life as a Laurier Golden Hawk.

I wanted to be a part of Laurier because the university not only has a very good academic reputation, but students are also given an incredible number of opportunities to be an active part of a thriving and diverse student society. After being on campus for a few days and seeing how passionate everyone was with community involvement, I also wanted to participate. I co-founded and still help in facilitating The Laurier Studio Experience (LSE), where we help young artists record and promote their music. I also joined the School of Business and Economics Mentorship Program, the Laurier Sports Management Club, as well as the Ministry of Anime. Laurier gives the students a chance to be a part of clubs that they are interested in, clubs that allow them to try something new, and also to create clubs that others will be excited to be a part of. And while I am doing all of these activities, I am also getting a great education from one of Canada’s best business schools, which allows me enjoy the present while continuing to work towards the future.

Wilfrid Laurier University has been my home for the past couple of years, and will be for the next two. Hopefully, you will also call this amazing school home and find out why it really is great to be a Laurier Golden Hawk.
