Albert Niño Alberto

4th Year Business Administration Albert

Taytay, Rizal, Philippines

Hi! My name is Albert Niño, and I am from Taytay, Rizal. I am currently in my fourth year in the Business Administration program, and I am incredibly excited and privileged to have the opportunity of being the Lead Ambassador to help facilitate this year’s International Student Ambassador Team.

My family immigrated to Canada in 2007 after I finished my second year of high school at Siena College Taytay. I graduated in 2011 from St. Thomas Aquinas S.S., but not before being accepted into Laurier on the very last day of admissions. I thought
I wasn’t going to have the chance to come to Laurier, but a good friend of mine urged me to follow up with the admissions office. Now, I am forever thankful to him for encouraging me to make that call and thus opening the door to some of the best times of my life that I experienced as a Golden Hawk.

I wanted to be a part of Laurier because the university not only has a very good academic reputation, but students are also given an incredible number of opportunities to be an active part of a thriving and diverse student society. After being on campus for a few days and seeing how passionate everyone was with community involvement, I wanted to be a part of it. I made up my mind that I couldn’t just be another student that just passed through the university and got his degree, I wanted to leave a legacy behind.

Wilfrid Laurier University has been my home for the past few of years, and will be for one last glorious year. Hopefully, you will also call this amazing school home and find out why it really is great to be a Laurier Golden Hawk.
