Hey everybody! My name is Rishi Lakhani! Although my nationality is Indian, I was born and raised in Dubai, UAE. I’m a 2nd year student in the Honors Economics program. My first year at Wilfrid Laurier University has been the best school year of my life! Before coming to Canada, I was as nervous as all of you might be, but within a week of arriving at Laurier, I felt like I had been here all my life! The people here are very welcoming and friendly. The small size of the university makes it a very safe community and you’re bound to bump into a friend while walking through campus. In a span of eight months, I have friends from all over the world and I am very thankful to my parents for this opportunity!
I lived in residence for my first year and it was a great experience. Laurier offers various opportunities for students in terms of campus clubs, volunteer work and even paid employment! I love beatboxing and I joined Laurier’s acapella music group called ‘Hawkapella’ during my first year. At Laurier, I’m sure that you’ll find enough opportunities to cultivate and express your talents and interests. Laurier students have a fantastic school spirit and we’re very proud of our university!
