2nd year Business Administration

 Hello! I am Santiago Pombo a second year Business student from Honduras. One year ago I decided to start my university studies as an international student at Laurier, proud keeper of the Golden Hawks! As a Laurier student, everyday has been a new experience from which I’ve learned and developed many skills that will be beneficial in the future. Since the moment I arrived in Canada, I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing-I was entering a new world, a new chapter in my life. While analyzing this thought, my legs were shaking and one thought came to mind, “It’s going to be the time of my life! And let me tell you something, it has been incredible! 

As an International student, making the decision to study abroad was not an easy process. Regrets? None at all. Having my university experience in a different country, with a university as welcoming as Laurier and where the ratio of International students to domestic is almost 1 to 6, has been absolutely incredible. Laurier offers more than 145 clubs for you to join or you can choose to start your own club. I am currently enrolled in 6 clubs and I have no words to describe how amazing all of the Laurier students are that I’ve met through being involved with university activities. 

Currently in my second year at Laurier I am also working my way to achieving a minor in Financial Mathematics. I love to meet new people from different cultures, play my guitar, and have fun with my friends. I am very excited to be an International Ambassador this year and it will be my pleasure to become your friend and help as much as I can. GO GOLDEN HAWKS!

Hola! Soy Santiago Pombo y quiero darte la bienvenida a Wilfrid Laurier University! Ha pasado un año ya desde que comencé a escribir mi historia universitaria siendo un Laurier Golden Hawk. Un sinfín de experiencias iniciadas por el caluroso abrazo y deseo de éxito que Wilfrid Laurier University sabe ofrecer a todos sus estudiantes. Un ambiente en el cual he podido desarrollar mis potenciales de liderazgo, continuar mi pasión por el servicio comunitario, aprender sobre nuevas culturas, desarrollar la independencia esencial para el futuro, entre otras oportunidades que me he encontrado al vestirme de morado y dorado con esta universidad. Son más de 130 diferentes clubes y organizaciones que nos permiten a los estudiantes internacionales seguir siendo participe de las mismas actividades que disfrutamos en casa. 

 Siendo un estudiante internacional tomar la decisión de vivir esta nueva aventura, mi vida universitaria, en otro país dejando todo lo que conozco atrás no fue fácil, pero haber aceptado esta gran oportunidad me ha llenado de dichas y amistades. Nunca pensé decir algún día que tengo amigos alemanes, rusos, argentinos, chilenos, Españoles, Colombianos, entre otros países hasta que comencé mis días en Laurier. 
Soy Hondureño de corazón y se que no importa cuan grande triunfo logre alcanzar en Canada, nunca voy a olvidar de donde vengo o el país que me vio nacer, porque las raíces de uno para mi son lo mas importante que pueda uno tener. 

Un poco sobre mi, soy estudiante de Administración de Empresas (Business Administration BBA) con un deseo de convertirme en un Matemático Financiero después de graduarme. Me encanta salir a jugar deportes, festejar, pasar un buen rato con amigos, y tocar la guitarra. Este año tengo la oportunidad de ser un Embajador Internacional y es con mucho placer que estaré disponible para ayudar a otros estudiantes que como yo, están por tomar una decisión que cambiara sus vidas positivamente.
