Suleiman Hasham

2nd year Business Administration

Dubai, UAE

Hello everyone! My name is Suleiman Hasham and I used to live in the United Arab Emirates. I decided to attend Wilfrid Laurier University and it has been one of the best choices I have ever made. I am now entering my 2nd year as an Honours Business student, pursuing the Chartered Accountant designation, and am proud to have received the President’s Centennial Award. When I was deciding which university to attend, it was very difficult to choose which one would be the best for me. It was after much deliberation, a lot of research and thought that I decided on Laurier. It has exceeded my expectations in every regard.

During first year, I learned a lot both academically and socially. It was an incredible experience and has had a significant impact on my life.  The people here are very friendly and there are lots of opportunities to make new friends through residence as well as the numerous clubs available. I made the most of my first year and participated in the many activities and organizations that caught my interest.

There is a really good feel and atmosphere to the university, as if it is one large community. You will sense that almost instantly, as you frequently walk past familiar faces. The small campus ensures you feel safe and secure and everything is conveniently located.

Laurier has a tremendous Co-op program with an excellent reputation, which is a very attractive opportunity for students. The academic & employment sequence of terms allows you to gain experience in your field and also provides financial assistance.

At Laurier, opportunities come your way to express your leadership potential and I was inspired by those around me. I made huge improvements within myself and made the most of the assistance that was provided to me. I must reiterate that choosing the right university in a foreign country is an extremely difficult decision and anyone in that position must be very cautious. However, I have enjoyed my time at Laurier and would make the same decision over and over again. As an International Student Ambassador, feel free to ask me any questions you may have. I am here to help! I look forward to seeing all of you soon.
