MAC Drop-in Help Session Volunteers
Does the job description for MAC Peer Tutors interest you, but you don't feel you have time to commit to the required six to eight hours each week? Are you looking for some great volunteer experience to add to your resume or application to teachers' college? Then consider volunteering in the MAC's Student Study Centre!
The Student Study Centre, BA401, is the location for traditional drop-in math help open to students seeking assistance with first year math courses and/or introductory statistics courses.
Candidates for volunteer positions must have earned a minimum of an A- grade in at least two 100-level math courses (MA101, MA103, MA104, MA110, MA121, MA122, MA170), as well as an overall GPA of 7.0 or higher. Either MA240 or any intro stats course, as offered by other academic departments, may be used in place of one of those listed. Additional qualifications include having good communication skills and modelling excellent learning skills.
The time committment is a minimum of two hours per week, starting the second week of classes for the academic term hired.
Third and fourth year students are preferred, but applications from students in the second year of their program will be considered as well. Only registered WLU undergraduates may apply.
If interested, please complete the on-line MAC Volunteer Application (Fall, Sept - Dec) form, or drop by BA432 to find out more information.
