21st Century Learning Conference
Dean Willard-Holt was invited to attend a 21st Century Learning Conference in Banff, Alberta, from October 12-14, 2011. The Pillars of the Forum were Career, Learning, Globalization and Sustainability (economic/environment).
This Forum provided an opportunity is create a synergy between all of these elements for systemic change and prosperity for Canada and other participating countries. According to Forum organizers, “We are facing an Aboriginal education/workforce crisis, cultural diversity challenges in educational institutions and workplaces, a disconnect between the successful transition and integration of secondary, post secondary and the world of work, and a collision between supply and demand for the high rising skill requirements in the workforce.
Delegates will have an opportunity to debate, to discuss, to challenge themselves and their professional conceptions and expectations of the current educational/work force development systems.” At the time of this writing, the event had yet to occur, but it is expected that the Dean will be sharing what was learned in next few weeks.
