PhD in Management: Operations Management (Supply Chain Management)
Supply Chain Management (SCM) has played a dominant role in the success of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, as well as in service and manufacturing organizations. Though many universities offer subjects such as transportation management, logistics, and purchasing (which arguably are the pillars of SCM) there is scarcity of comprehensive programs in SCM.
Our program is unique and all-inclusive, drawing not only on these pillars of SCM, but also on the strength of operations, decision sciences, marketing, economics and other areas within the School of Business & Economics. Opportunities for teaching are also available. If you complete your MSc with us, you will receive credit for those courses you have already completed, which can decrease the length of the time it takes to complete this doctoral degree.
Our program provides students with the expert skills to be first class researchers and teachers in the field of supply chain management. It is a four-year, full-time residential program. Students have the benefit of learning in a vibrant research environment, and have a blend of experiences that help to develop the range of expertise that characterize successful scholars at respected institutions of higher education.
Our faculty members are actively involved in research in areas including game theory, inventory and production control, manufacturing and service operations and logistics, empirical research on the impact of manufacturing strategy decisions on firm performance, network manufacturing, sustainable supply chain management, management of innovation and technological change and risk management. Our faculty is committed to high-quality research and its timely dissemination in the top peer-reviewed journals.
The Center for Supply Chain Management is closely affiliated with the PhD program and provides students with opportunities to connect with industry and its experts. An endowment by OIPMAC provides academic achievement scholarships to the top MSc and PhD students.
