CRIMINOLOGY STUDENT ASSOC. - Field Trips



Welcome to the Criminology Student Trips Webpage!

As a member of the Criminology Student Association, you are able to attend a variety of criminology-related field trips at no cost.  This is a wonderful opportunity to see how criminology is applied in everyday life.  While trips vary by year, past trips have included:

The Ontario Police College
Toronto Police Service - 52 Division
Sprucedale Correctional Center
Grand Valley Institution for Women
FORENSIC IDENTIFICATION SERVICES

Please Note: Due to the limited number of spots for most trips, a certain number of spaces will be reserved for 4th-year, non-returning students, and will be granted by lottery selection.  The remainder of spaces will be available to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year returning students, and will also be granted by lottery selection. 



Trips Previously Scheduled for 2010/2011

To give you an idea of some of the wonderful and exciting trips that students have enjoyed in the past.

Forensic Indentification Services located in Toronto

This trip provides students with be given 3 hours inside the lab which includes a tour of the facility, a lecture about forensic science and given the opportunity to use the lab equipment to see how it all really works.  This facility is one of the largest forensic facilities in North America with state of the art equipment.  Students will e given the opportunity ask questions and find out what it takes to become a forensic investigator.

Ontario Police College - Aylmer

The tour will involve approximately two hous (1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.), and we will depart from CB at 11:15, and return around 4-4:30 p.m.  We will be able to accommodate 35 students, and there will be space for any faculty members who wish to go as well.

Grand Valley Institution for Women (GVI)

This trip provides students with an opportunity to visit Grand Valley Institution for Women (GVI). GVI is a multi-level facility located in Kitchener, Ontario.  The institution provides a positive and supportive environment focused mainly on women's timely and safe reintegration.
