The Center for International Studies provides visa information and assistance with questions both big and small. In addition, the Center hosts International Student Orientation and many other programs throughout the year just for international students. Students whose first language is not English and who have not studied exclusively in English must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores to Georgia Southern. For admission, we require TOEFL scores of at least 69 internet-based, 193 computer-based or 523 paper-based. IELTS scores required for admission are 5.5 or better.
Georgia Southern University is located in Statesboro, a small city which offers an impressive list of amenities and cultural activities such as ballet, symphonies, and theatre and outdoor activities such as hiking and canoeing. Statesboro and Bulloch County are less than an hour from Savannah, Georgia by car. The beautiful beaches of Georgia, Florida and South Carolina are only a day-trip away. The Georgia Southern University campus is one of the most naturally beautiful in the state, spreading over a 675-acre (2.73 km˛) landscape of lawns, lakes, and towering pines.
