Program of Study at WLU: Global Studies, Religion & Culture with Business Management Option
Country and School visited: University of Botswana, in Botswana.
Favourite things about your experience abroad: I enjoyed the climate, it definitely made activities that much more enjoyable, along with the essence of being apart of the culture, where everyone made you feel welcomed.
What did you gain from this experience? This was unique from other travelling experiences because of the depth in perspective I got from each encounter I made, whether it was a student, a local, a new country or a peer.
What advice would you give to a potential exchange student? Really take advantage of each opportunity, try not to over analyze things because once its’ over you might regret not maximizing your experience.
What was something new you tried while abroad? I tried camping in the real wilderness with the animals for about two weeks, without any luxuries.
How did you find the change in the schooling system and classes: I felt a big change in the structure of the lectures. Because more time was allotted to discussion in class, opinionated arguments would form take up a lot of the period. What helped me was finding people who understood my point of view and taking part to be one with the class and not shy away from important issues that all students face. In turn, the semester was successful and I was able to interact with many local students because I put myself out there.
