Intercultural Effectiveness Certificate Program
Laurier International, in partnership with the Centre for Intercultural Learning is offering a four module
Intercultural Effectiveness Certificate Program, geared towards developing knowledge of and value for the competencies necessary to be an interculturally effective person, an awareness of one's own level of competence, and finally, an understanding of how one can strengthen their own intercultural abilities, and knowledge.
Registration will begin in Winter 2013

Through the use of the experiential learning model, which takes into account all learning styles, students who complete the program will be able to:
•Define and describe how culture affects our interactions with others
•Identify the 9 competencies of the Interculturally Effective Person
•Apply the concept of culture to current or previous personal and professional experiences
•Identify the 4 stages of cultural adjustment and strategies to assist with cultural adaptation
•Empathize and value approaches and ways of thinking different from one's own
•Identify and understand the cultural patterns of communication
•Link personal, professional and academic experience to specific intercultural competencies
The complete certificate program is broken down into 4 modules with 2 workshops per module. The full program will be offered in both the fall and winter semesters. Students who complete the program will receive a certificate in Intercultural Effectiveness
Please take note of the following:
- Participants need to begin with Module 1 workshop A and end with Module 4 workshop B.
- Workshops do not need to be completed within the same term or year. Certificates will be issued as long as all four modules are completed.
- Participation in the workshops is limited to 30 people per session.
- Each workshop is 1 1/2 hours in length and is offered twice a week.
*Please note that each module is offered twice within one week. You only have to attend ONE workshop a week.
