Undergraduate Programs
Movies comprise a prominent element of our experience of the world today, and the Film Studies programs at Laurier address that experience. Our Film Studies programs place emphasis on world film history, on the unique nature of film as medium, and on individual films as texts in their own right. We offer Film Studies as a liberal arts discipline, in as broad a cultural and intellectual context as possible. The programs explore questions of film genre, film aesthetics, film theory, and gender in film. Through regular screenings, discussions, and essays, the Film Studies courses provide opportunities for students to write and think critically about films, and about their place in society.
