Field Courses in Biology 2013

Laurier Biology takes part in the Ontario Universities Program in Field Biology (OUPFB), an inter-university program that will offer 30 courses in 2013. Within OUPFB, Laurier Biology will offer two courses:
(1) BI367 Field Botany Medicinal Plants in the Flora of Ontario (Module 13 in OUPFB), 10--21 May, which will run from the campus of WLU with daily trips to various locations in southern Ontario (Dr. Mihai Costea).
(2) BI394 The Changing North: The Subarctic Ecosystems In The Face of Climate Warming (Module 23, OUPFB), 18--31 August at Dechinta Center for Research and Learning, Blatchford Lake and Yellowknife, NT (Dr. Jennifer Baltzer).

APPLICATION PROCESS
There is a unique application process for ALL the OUPFB courses.
(Attention: you cannot apply online!)
Steps:
1) Download and fill out the OUPFB application form.
2) Apply for the course at the Laurier Biology Office (Room N3022B).
3) In addition to the regular (0.5-credit) tuition fees, you will be required to pay a deposit of $250 to WLU at the time of application, and later, the balance of the course fee to the host university prior to departure. Attach a cheque made out to Wilfrid Laurier University to your application.

Enrollment in each course is limited. Each university receives only a small number of guaranteed spots in certain courses. However, after the first round of applications, available spots remain usually and can be filled by students from any university. This is why it is important to have several course options in your application. Modules may be cancelled if there are too few early applications.
The $250 deposit will be refunded if you do not manage to get into the course you applied for.
