The Cord, September 25, 2013: "CAS profs express frustration"
Wilfrid Laurier University’s Clarifications & Corrections webpage is an opportunity for the university to provide comments and corrections to information written and published about it by other sources.
An article in The Cord on Sept. 25 about negotiations between the university and Contract Academic Staff (CAS) contained incorrect information. In response, the University provides the following information:
Contract Academic Staff (CAS) at Laurier are paid approximately $7,000 per course and are permitted to teach up to three courses per term (nine courses per year). A CAS member can therefore earn up to $63,000 per year. Incorrect information appeared in a story in the Sept. 25 issue of The Cord.
A photograph in the Sept. 25 issue of The Cord depicted a Contract Academic Staff holding a sign that said she "can't afford to send my kids here.” It should be noted that CAS members receive a tuition waiver for eligible family members based on the number of courses taught by the CAS member in the previous academic year.
