Please read Peer-to-Peer (File Sharing) for the most up-to-date information.
First, ensure that you have followed the four steps for connecting to ResNet: Connect, Update, Secure & Protect.
Next, make sure that any peer-to-peer programs are not running (such as limewire, kazaa, etc). These programs will sometimes cause your traffic to be blocked at the edge of the network, and so it may seem that your ability to access the internet is very intermittent.
Another possibility if your connection is up & down all the time or you are completly disconnected, is that you may have been infected with a virus/worm/trojan/malware.
In any of these cases, an excellent troubleshooting step is to try to connect to your roommate’s port (if possible) and see if the problems still follow.
If you still are experiencing problems then contact ResNet for further assistance.
