Health plan information



All full and part-time Undergraduate and all full-time Graduate Students are automatically enrolled in an extended Health and Benefit Plan every fall term. For more information regarding the costs and benefits of these plans or to opt-out of these plans please visit the related Plan websites.


Undergraduate Extended Health & Dental Plan

The Undergraduate Extended Health and Dental Plans are administered by the Wilfrid Laurier University Studentsí Union and are mandatory for all full and part time undergraduate students registered in the fall term. This also includes co-op students on work term. All inquiries regarding plan benefits or opting-out of these plans should be directed to the Health Plan Office, located on the 3rd floor of the Fred Nichols Campus Centre. Graduate Extended Health & Dental Plan

This plan is administered by Graduate Students' Association located on the 1st floor of the Student Services building.

UHIP (University Health Insurance Plan)

International students and Exchange students must obtain medical insurance coverage from the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP). PARTICIPATION IS COMPULSORY. This Plan is comprehensive and is designed to pay the cost of the hospital and medical services international students and their dependents may need while in Canada. The Plan is provided through Ontario universities for all eligible participants and their dependents who are not entitled to coverage under the Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan. Upon your arrival you must fill out a UHIP application form at the Business Office to enrol in the plan.
