Canadian Blood Services Partners for Life
Wilfrid Laurier University has joined forces with Canadian Blood Services as a Partner for Life. This partnership will see mobile blood donor clinics held at both the Waterloo and Brantford campuses. Laurier's partnership number is #WILF001529.
What is a Partner for Life?
Partners For Life is a nationwide program that is designed for corporate and community organizations. By joining the program, organizations make a commitment to save lives by donating blood as a team. The need for blood is ongoing, and patients that are treated for things such as cancer, surgery and trauma depend on a stable supply of blood year round, which is why Partners for Life organizations have the power to save lives!
Every calendar year WLU makes a pledge of blood donations
• Employees/Students/Family/Friends/Alumni can then sign up to have their donation counted towards WLU’s Pledge
• WLU has contributed over 2000 blood donations since joining the program in 2010 and have pledged 500 blood donations in 2014
Approximately every minute of every day, someone in Canada needs blood. In fact, according to a recent poll, 52 per cent of Canadians say they, or a family member, have needed blood or blood products for surgery or for medical treatment. One blood donation can save up to three lives.
