WLS is pleased to announce the 2013 Pilgrimage of Solidarity to the Holy Land from April 24th to May 9th, 2013.  This will be the third time the Seminary has offered this study opportunity.  This experience provides participants the chance to learn about the Bible and the current situation facing people in the Holy Land.

The itinerary will include many Biblical sites as well as meeting with representatives from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL).  Visits will also be made to ELCJHL schools, training programs supported by Canadian Lutheran World Relief and the LWF's Augusta Victoria Hospital, to mention a few of the places.

Students registered at WLS will be eligible to take one or both courses for up to two half-credits (0.5) as part of this travel program.  The People, the Land and the Book in Ancient Times (TH608T) will be offered by Tim Hegedus. This Course may be eligible to be credited as an Introductory New Testament course. David Pfrimmer will offer The People, the Land and the Book Today (TH608G). Both courses can be credited as electives in Seminary programs.  Students will need to apply and be accepted to the travel portion of this program and assume responsibility for the travel costs as well as academic tuition.  Some financial aid may be available to students based upon eligibility and availability.  Others who wish to accompany this study program are welcome to apply to join the pilgrimage.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land is hosting this visit.  Leading this Canadian delegation will be Bishop Michael Pryse of the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.   It promises to be an exciting opportunity to build bridges to the place where Judaism and Christianity began.
