Many consider that the 20th century was marked by the failure of hope - a failure that continues to confound thinkers in the 21st century. In this lecture we will explore the failure of dominant understandings of hope and we will retrieve alternative Christian narratives of hope in the face of despair. As people of faith in contexts of uncertainty and adversity we are invited to rediscover a hope that calls forth spiritual resilience, courage and trust.
