Classroom Observation
Classroom observations are a great way to experience your classroom
through someone else’s eyes, to encourage reflective practice, to
identify teaching strengths and target areas for improvement.
Educational Development offers confidential teaching observations to
any member of the Laurier community in an instructional role. A
typical classroom observation will involve a pre-observation meeting or
communication via phone or email to provide context for the teaching
event and to establish observation goals. A staff member from
Educational Development will arrange to attend one of your classes and
then meet with you afterwards to discuss the teaching event. A written
report can be provided to you for personal or professional purposes.
We recognize that having your teaching observed can be an intimidating
process, and we strive to provide feedback in a supportive and positive
manner.
Classroom observations can generally be arranged anytime throughout the academic year with sufficient notice. If you would like to arrange a classroom observation, please contact Jeanette McDonald at jmcdonald@wlu.ca or (519) 884-0710 x 3211.
