Undergraduate Student Opportunities
Undergraduate Thesis Students (Sept. 2015-April 2016):
The McDonald lab in the Department of Biology will be seeking candidates for undergraduate thesis projects. Competitive candidates with an excellent academic record (minimum 80% average in Biology, Biochemistry, or Health Sciences) who have an interest in obtaining hands-on experience through a laboratory research project are encouraged to apply. The McDonald lab performs research on the respiratory enzyme alternative oxidase in a wide variety of species and uses molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, and bioinformatics techniques to address our research questions. I have previously supervised students in Biology, Chemistry (Biochemistry and Biotechnology Program), and Health Sciences. I anticipate supervising 2 thesis students next year.
Please submit an unofficial copy of your transcripts, a one-page description of why you wish to work in the McDonald lab, and a CV or resume via email to firstname.lastname@example.org by February 15, 2015 in order to be considered. The instructions and application for BI499 will be listed under the "Documents" section on the Biology Department webpage.
