Information for Graduates
The Fall Convocation Ceremonies will take place on October 30 and 31, at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex
Participation cards will NOT be mailed . An email will be sent to those that have been cleared to graduate approximately two weeks before the ceremony to confirm the degree, program granted and the date and time of the ceremony. If you have not received this email, please check your junk file. Please arrive approximately 1.5 hours before the ceremony to pick up your participation card along with your gown in the Hauser Haus (2nd floor of the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex). It is vital that you do not misplace this card once you have it in hand as it indicates your place in line and your full legal name that will be announced during the ceremony.
**IMPORTANT** Participation cards will NOT be available for those who have a hold on their account or who have not been cleared to graduate. Please confirm on LORIS.
Cleared to Graduate:
To check if you have been cleared to graduate please follow these instructions: (The status of your application will not change until your final grades have been received and assessed)
- Log into Loris
- Click on 'Student Records'
- Check either 'Official Grades' or 'Unofficial Record of Course Work'
- If it states 'Granted' then you have been cleared to graduate, however if it states 'Applied' then your application is still being process. Please keep checking LORIS
Candidates who have been cleared to graduate by the second week of May will appear on the final draft of the Convocation program which will be posted on the Convocation homepage approximately one week prior to the event. Please keep checking Loris.

Guest seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The doors will open for guests to select their seats one hour prior to the ceremony start time.

Undergraduate and Masters degree candidates do not require pre-booking of graduation gowns and hoods. A $25 rental fee is required at the time of gown pick up in the Hauser Haus located on the second floor of the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex. Please arrive approximately an hour before your ceremony to ensure enough time for gown rental.
PhD and DMin Candidates must reserve their Academic Regalia with the bookstore six weeks prior to graduation. Rental fee is $115.
Each graduand is required to wear a black gown for the ceremony. However, graduands receiving a degree must not wear the hood until the Registrar or Hooder places it around the graduand's neck on stage. It is at this point the graduand becomes a graduate.
Arrival Time for the day of the ceremony
Plan to arrive at least 1.5 hours in advance of the ceremony to pick up participation cards, rent gown, pick up photo composites/yearbooks and get in line for the procession.
Receptions will be held for each ceremony. Graduates, family and friends are all encouraged to attend. All receptions will be immediately following the ceremony unless otherwise noted. More information will be posted closer to the ceremony dates.
Class Composites & Yearbooks
Graduates who have had their photograph taken by Lifetouch Photographers and paid the sitting fee, can pick up their class composites and yearbooks at the gown and hood rental location (Hauser Haus on the second floor of WMRC)
Photographer at Convocation Ceremony
A photographer from Grad Images will be taking on-stage photos of all graduates. Proofs will be viewable at https://www.gradimages.com/. Grads will receive an email when the proofs have been posted. At the ceremony, there will be a designated area for family and friends to take photographs.
Frames may be pre-ordered or purchased on the day of Convocation. For more information, click here. Proceeds on frames purchased the day-of help to support student programming and events. During and after the ceremonies volunteers from the Student Alumni Association will be present offering complimentary degree framing on site. Please direct any questions to email@example.com
Memorabilia and Gifts
Giftware, grad rings and Laurier clothing can be purchased through the Bookstore. Rings, flowers and other memborabilia will also be available for purchase at Convocation.
Convocation Non-Attendance Form
Please complete and submit the non-attendance form if you are unable to attend the Convocation ceremony. Only those students who have applied to graduate and have been cleared for the ceremony may use this form.
