Student Recruiting
Graduate Students:
I am currently recruiting strong students wishing to pursue graduate studies. In particular, I am interested in supervising students with background knowledge or an interest statistical methodology for studying problems in Environmetrics, Actuarial Science and Biostatistics, including:
- Smoothing or nonlinear regression
- Spatial statistics
- Point processes
- Stochastic processes
- Longitudinal and mixed effects modelling
- Mixture models
- Applied probability and queueing
- Simulation
- Statistical Inference
- Data visualization
Other requirements include:
- A strong motivation and interest in studying quantitative problems through theory, data analysis and simulation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
The department offers competitive funding packages, usually made up of a mix of research and teaching assistantships and scholarships.
For more information, please feel free to contact me or visit the department's website (www.wlu.ca/math) and click on the "Graduate Program" link on the left hand side of that page.
Undergraduate Students:
If you're an undergraduate student interested in an NSERC USRA, a WLU Undegraduate RA or any other research assistantship opportunities, please feel free to contact me.
I also have an interest in statistical and mathematical education. I am interested in supervising an undergraduate student who is considering pursuing a B.Ed. degree in MA489 (research stream) to conduct some pilot research in this area.
