Instructional Assistant - HE 400 A & B - Multidisciplinary Seminar on Critical Health Issues

We require one Instructional Assistant for HE400: (Fall/2014 term).  Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 3:50 pm and 4:00 to 5:20 p.m. on both days.  

Duties: The IAs will include grading and course administration. The ideal candidate will have expertise with My Learning Space and be capable of critiquing literature reviews (for the final project). 

Qualifications:  Senior HE students who has taken the course and received a minimum grade of A.  The ideal candidate has passion for the subject area, is a critical thinker, a strong writer, and has experience in small groups as well as mylearningspace facilitation.

Hours of work: 130 hours 

Rate of pay:

$21.70/hour when 4th year undergraduate
$27.54/hour when MA student or PhD student

Instructional Assistants (2) are required for HE100: Health Issues l (Fall/2014 term). HE 100 is an introductory course, examining a wide range of individual and community level health issues from a physiological, social science and public health perspective. Topics will include defining health, determinants of health and health promotion; psychosocial health and stress management; health behaviour change; nutrition, physical activity and weight management; building health relationships; sexuality, fertility, pregnancy and childbirth.

Duties: The IAs will assist in proctoring and grading midterm and final exams, grading assignments, and facilitating/staffing post assignment and midterm exam review sessions.

Qualifications: Senior HE students, who have completed HE100 with a minimum grad of 'A'. The ideal candidate is self-directed, highly organized, a critical thinker, with a strong interest in a wide variety of health-related disciplines.

Hours of work: 62 hours per term (5 hr per week). Note that the workload for this position will not be consistent across the term, with some weeks requiring more or less than 5 hours per week. Successful candidates must be available during the final exam period in December.

Rate of Pay:

20.60/hour for 3rd year undergraduate

21.70/hour for 4th year undergraduate

 Instructional Assistants (2) are required for HE101: Health Issues ll (Winter/2015 term). HE 101 is a continuation of Health Issues l, covering a wide range of individual and communityu level health issues from a physiological, social science and public health perspective. The focus for this course will be on chronic and infectious diseases, non-infectious conditions, risk behaviours (addiction, drugs, alcohol and tobacco use), environmental health, healthy aging, death and dying, as well as an overview of the Canadian health care system and health care options in complementary and alternative medicine.

Duties: The IAs will assist in proctoring and grading midterm and final exams, grading assignments, and facilitating/staffing post assignment and midterm exam review sessions.

Qualifications: Senior HE students, who have completed HE101 with a minimum grade of 'A-'. The ideal candidate is self-directed, highly organized, a critical thinker, with a strong interest in a wide variety of health-related disciplines.
