Emergency Response Plan exercise - Tuesday, April 30
Wilfrid Laurier University is committed to the safety and well-being of our students, staff, faculty and community partners. There are Emergency Response Plans in place which outline our policies and procedures in case of emergency.
On Tuesday, April 30, 2013 we will be conducting a live exercise, with Brantford Police Service (BPS), to evaluate our emergency response plans. The exercise will consist of a BPS officer playing the role of an active shooter on campus, specifically in the Research and Academic Centre - West. Special Constable Service and BPS will respond to the incident in real time, following the emergency response plans. The Emergency Operations Group will assemble to work through a table top response to the emergency, and the information provided from the scene by the Special Constables.
The exercise will conclude with a debrief to evaluate the emergency response plans, determine obstacles and critical issues in responding to and recovering from the emergency and to provide a learning environment for BPS, Special Constable Service and university administration.
The exercise is scheduled to being at 8:30 a.m. and conclude by 11:30 a.m.
