The adjustment to university life begins before students arrive on campus, especially for those who are new to Waterloo or to Wilfrid Laurier University. Registration for courses is done online and tuition fees must be paid before classes start in order to avoid late registration fees. Accommodation can be difficult to find if left to the beginning of term. At the beginning of term, students must provide proof of appropriate health insurance coverage or else enroll in the university plan. Students will also need a student card. The Graduate Students Association can provide information on some of these items.
International students will need a Social Insurance Number (SIN) and a Canadian bank account soon after they arrive. Their adjustment period can be made easier by accessing information available through Laurier International and Graduate Studies.
