Laurier's Brantford campus
Laurier community has opportunity to tote home a piece of history
Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
The Laurier community has the opportunity to own a piece of history with the purchase of a vinyl tote bag created from the centennial banners that adorned the Waterloo and Brantford campuses during the year-long celebration.
The banners were cleaned before being cut and stitched together. Each unique bag features white piping, purple handles and a special embroidered LAURIER100 tag. There will be close to 375 bags for sale at the Waterloo campus; these are made out of banners hung in Waterloo. The bags for sale in Brantford are made from the Brantford banners, and there will be about 75 available.
"The banners were a daily visible reminder of Laurier's centennial and a celebration of all that had been accomplished in the university’s first 100 years," said Jacqui Tam, assistant vice-president, Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing. "This is a great opportunity for staff, faculty and students to take home a piece of that history, and is just one of the many ways the centennial will live on."
The bags are $11.95 each and will be sold during convocation at both campuses. At the Waterloo campus, bags will be available for purchase beginning at 9:00 a.m. June 13 in the Laurier Bookstore tent outside of the Athletic Complex. Any bags remaining after the 13th will be sold during the following two days of convocation. At Laurier Brantford, bags will be available for purchase beginning June 19 in the Stedman Community Bookstore. All sales are limited to the number of bags available at each campus, and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
