Remembrance Day ceremonies in Waterloo, Brantford and Toronto

All members of the Laurier community are invited to attend the university’s annual Remembrance Day ceremony Friday, Nov. 11 in the concourse on the Waterloo campus.

The ceremony, hosted by the History Students' Association and the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union, begins at 10:45 a.m. and includes such traditions as the minute of silence and a reading of the poem In Flanders Fields by Laurier Vice-President: Student Affairs David McMurray.

Following the ceremony, light refreshments will be provided in the Hawk’s Nest, where there will also be a special launch of the book Canadian Battlefields 1915-1918 by Laurier Professor Emeritus Terry Copp and students Matt Symes and Nick Lachance. The book, published by the Laurier Centre for Military, Strategic and Disarmament Studies, is a visitor’s guide to Canadian battlefields on the Western Front.

The Laurier Brantford community is encouraged to attend the Brantford Civic Service of Remembrance, beginning at 10:45 a.m. at the Brant County War Memorial located at Brant Ave. and Dalhousie St.

The Laurier Toronto community is encouraged to attend the Remembrance Day Service beginning at 10:45 a.m. at the Toronto Old City Hall Cenotaph, located at 60 Queen St. W.
