Perspectives conference will address academic freedom in the context of partnership agreements
Aug 1/12
Matters of academic freedom are important to the credibility of universities and the research they support. It is also important that universities establish new and innovative partnerships to serve society.
To enable international experts to analyze and comment, President Max Blouw of Wilfrid Laurier University and President Feridun Hamdullahpur of the University of Waterloo will co-host with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada a public conference on Sept. 6 in Waterloo to address academic freedom in the context of partnership agreements.
The conference, called Perspectives on Academic Freedom, will feature governance experts from the broader academic community in Canada and abroad. The conference will be of interest to all faculty, staff, administrators, and students wishing to learn more about this important topic.
The conference will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 6 at the Waterloo Inn, 475 King St. N., Waterloo. Admission is free but we ask that you register at: https://uwaterloo.ca/events/rsvp/perspectives-academic-freedom-held-waterloo-inn
