Internet access restored
On Feb. 5, the Internet connection on Laurier's Waterloo campus experienced periodic episodes of significant data of unknown origin. Users experienced difficulty making Internet connections including, but not limited to, MyLeaningSpace and GroupWise web access.
Information Techology Services (ITS) found the affected machines and removed them from the network shortly after 1 a.m. on Feb. 6. Laurier's Internet connection is running as it should today.
ITS is conducting a forensic analysis to determine the cause. In doing so, ITS hopes to:
- make the necessary changes to the university configurations so this will not happen again
- determine if there are any other affected devices that may cause significant network problems.
