There are two great runs this Sunday that allow you to show your Laurier spirit and raise money for two good causes.

The annual Laurier Loop and the annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundationís CIBC Run for the Cure are separate events but both take place Sunday, Oct. 3 and both have a Laurier component.

Laurier Loop

The Laurier Loop is part of the universityís Homecoming celebrations this weekend. All pledges from the Laurier Loop will be donated to Laurier's Sun Life Financial Movement Disorders Research & Rehabilitation Centre (MDRC).

The Laurier Loop starts at 10 a.m. Sunday at University Stadium and winds through beautiful Waterloo Park. Choose from a 4-loop 10-kilometre run, a 2-loop 5-kilometre run, a 1-loop 2.5-kilometre run, or participate in one of three relays. Visit www.runwaterloo.com to register and for more information.

CIBC Run for the Cure

The CIBC Run for the Cure takes place at many locations across the country. In Kitchener-Waterloo, the event starts at 8 a.m. Sunday at Bingemans at 425 Bingemans Centre Dr. in Kitchener.

This year, the University of Toronto has started a friendly competition between Ontario universities to see who can raise the most donations for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Wilfrid Laurier University has registered a team. To register a sub-team under the Wilfrid Laurier University team, or to join an existing Laurier team, please click here.

The top fundraising university in Ontario will be awarded the University Cup at their run site and receive a special presentation by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation at an exclusive post-run presentation.
