Laurier Toronto MBA students excel in CFA examinations

Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing

Aug 22/11

Since its inception in 2005, Laurierís MBA with the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) option has allowed students to complete both their MBA degree and their Level I and Level II CFA exams concurrently. This unique program offers students the ability to achieve both the management courses of the integrated MBA core and prepare for the first two levels of the CFA examinations.

The results from the 2011 Level II CFA exam show the pass rate among students from Laurier's part-time Toronto program was 88 per cent. The current global pass rate for Level II is 43 per cent. The pass rate among Laurier students for the CFA Level I exam has consistently increased year over year, and stands at 100 per cent for 2011.

"Our studentsí success in the CFA exams is a testament to both our faculty's ability to aptly prepare our students and the quality of students accepted in to the Laurier program,Ē said Ben Amoako-Adu, area co-ordinator for the program.

Located in the heart of Torontoís financial district, the Laurier program offers an opportunity for individuals pursuing a career in finance to achieve the MBA degree and the first two levels of the CFA exams in a 3.3 year period. The CFA charter prepares students for a financial analyst career in investment banks, commercial banks, mutual funds, hedge funds, insurance companies and corporate finance positions with countless companies in Canada and abroad.

The part-time weekend MBA with the CFA option is offered at Laurierís Toronto MBA campus in the Sun Life Financial Tower. Applications are now being accepted for a March 30, 2012 start.
