Are Canadian Shield lakes going to jelly? York’s Norman Yan speaks at Laurier Thursday
Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
Dr. Norman Yan, from York University’s Department of Biology and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment’s Dorset Environmental Science Centre, will speak at Laurier Thursday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. in the Paul Martin Centre. His talk is titled “Are Canadian Shield lakes going to jelly?”
Yan’s nationally recognized research concerns the impacts of multiple environmental stressors on animal plankton, which he calls the “little living lawnmowers” of lakes.
After working for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment for 25 years, Yan joined York University in 2000. He now splits his time between the Dorset Environmental Science Centre and York.
Yan comes to Laurier as part of the Laurier environmental science seminar series, which is sponsored by the Cold Regions Research Centre and the Laurier Institute for Water Science.
