Dec 15/11
As a Canadian Blood Services Partner for Life (PFL), Wilfrid Laurier University pledged to collect 400 units of blood in 2011. To date, the Laurier community has donated almost 500 units.
However, the Canadian Blood Services is looking for more donations from Dec. 24 to 31 to meet hospital demands. Almost 400 units are needed during this traditionally slower period.
If you are interested in donating this holiday season, call 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283) to book an appointment at Canadian Blood Services’ permanent clinic at 94 Bridgeport Road East, in the Sobeys Plaza. Don’t forget to give Laurier’s Partners for Life ID number: WILF001529. You will only need to give this number the first time you sign up, and then it will be linked to your donor card information.
In Canada, someone needs blood almost every minute of every day for surgery or medical treatment. By joining Canadian Blood Services’ PFL program, Laurier pledges to collect a certain number of donations every year. The partnership encompasses all of Laurier’s campuses. Students, staff, faculty, alumni, spouses and friends can donate blood at their convenience by calling 1-888-2-DONATE and quoting Laurier’s PFL ID#: WILF001529.
Those going home for the holidays can visit www.blood.ca to find the clinic nearest to them. The next blood donor clinic in Brantford is Tuesday, Jan. 3 from 1:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Brantford.
