Laurier International launches inaugural holiday host program
Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
Laurier International has announced its inaugural holiday host program for international students and the Laurier community.
The program aims to match international students with members of the Laurier community who are looking to share the holiday cheer by hosting two or more international students at a holiday dinner or event in their homes or at family gatherings.
“This is a great opportunity for international students to learn about Canadian holiday celebrations and to have them share about their own cultures and traditions,” said Peter Donahue, associate director, international student support. “We hope this will be a great first-hand learning experience for students and local families.”
Laurier International is currently accepting applications for the December holiday week of Saturday, Dec. 21 to Wednesday, Jan. 1. Dates, times and durations are negotiable between hosts and students.
Interested community members and students are matched on a rolling first-come, first-served basis. Hosts will be contacted with the names and contact information of their matches, and you will be asked to connect with the student guest via email or telephone to make arrangements. Laurier international will notify hosts by December 13, 2013.
Applications are available on the Laurier International website. For additional information contact Denoja Kankesan, international program assistant at firstname.lastname@example.org or call ext.4085.
