Tomorrow’s job fair celebrating its 20th anniversary
Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
Tomorrow, Feb. 6, Laurier students and alumni can connect with employers at the annual Partnerships for Employment (P4E) job fair. About 170 organizations will be recruiting for a variety of positions, including full-time, part-time, co-op and summer work opportunities.
“The best thing about going to the job fair is that it’s a one-stop shop for jobs – all the key people you need to contact are in one room,” said Dan Allison (BA ’09). Allison found his current job, a manager of employment relations for CGA, through the connections he built at the P4E job fair.
“The opportunity to build relationships with employers and with Laurier’s Career Centre is invaluable in the long run.”
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the P4E fairs, tomorrow’s job fair will also feature three LinkedIn sessions delivered by Steve Watt, marketing manager for LinkedIn. Attendees will also have a chance to win one of four iPad minis.
A collaborative effort among the Career Centres at the University of Guelph, University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and Conestoga College, Partnerships for Employment was created in 1994 to serve students, alumni and employers through annual career and job fairs. The partnership among the four institutions fosters a unique environment for sharing information and creating a large attendance of about 4,000 students, which is an appealing environment for employers because they can fulfill their recruitment needs in one day.
The 2013 P4E Job Fair is tomorrow, Feb. 6 at RIM Park in Waterloo. Students and alumni from a degree/diploma program at Conestoga College, University of Guelph, University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University will be admitted free of charge with their student ID.
There are free bus rides available every ˝ hour to and from Laurier’s Waterloo campus, and a bus departs Laurier’s Brantford campus at 9 a.m. and departs from RIM Park at 1 p.m. For more information or to view the bus schedule, visit www.partners4employment.ca or visit the Career Centre.
