Languages & Literatures Dept welcomes Dr. Sharon Marquart
The Department of Languages and Literatures is pleased to announce that Dr. Sharon Marquart has accepted an offer from WLU to join the Department of Languages and Literatures as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of French specializing in the area of Modern French Literature and Culture, effective 1 July 2012.
Dr. Marquart has a PhD from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she wrote her doctoral dissertation entitled Witnessing Communities and an Ethics of Reading under the direction of David Caron and Juli Highfill. Her research on testimonial literature and the literature of Human Rights has appeared or is forthcoming in the top-tier journal French Forum and edited volumes such as The Holocaust in Spanish Memory, edited by Antonio Gómez López Quiñones and Susanne Zepp (Leipziger Universitätsverlag, 2009), and Les revenantes : Charlotte Delbo, la voix d’une communauté à jamais déportée, which Sharon co-edited with David Caron (Presses Universitaires du Mirail, 2011). She is currently working on a book-length project entitled Witnessing, Community and an Ethics of Reading.
Professor Marquart comes to us from the University of Houston (USA), where she has been a Visiting Assistant Professor since 2008. We are delighted that she will be joining our department this fall.
