Year 4 student Gaby Klassen awarded research assistantship to work with Dr. Schwieter
Gaby Klassen, candidate for the HBA in Languages has been awarded a $4,500 undergraduate research assistant to work with Dr. John W. Schwieter, associate professor of Spanish and linguistics on the project, Exploring theoretical linguistics: From sound to structure. This award is funded by Office of Research Services ($3,000) and partially matched by Dr. Schwieter ($1,500).
"I am very proud of Gaby. During the last couple of years, I have trained and worked with her in the Psycholinguistics and Language Acquisition Research Lab where I have seen her research interests fully develop. Her inquiries in linguistics research make her a solid candidate for graduate studies." said Dr. Schwieter.
Not surprising, Gaby's extraordinary abilities also earned her acceptance at several top graduate programs in Spanish and linguistics. Although Gaby was also offered a spot at the University of Ottawa and Western University, she has accepted University of Toronto's offer to study a MA in Hispanic Linguistics beginning Fall 2012. Following this, her plans include perusing a PhD in Hispanic Linguistics with a concentration in morpho-syntactic aspects of Spanish second language acquisition.
Please join us in congratulating Gaby!
