Dr. Alexandra Zimmermann presents on German Drama Productions
Dr. Alexandra Zimmermann will be presenting in May at the first International Conference on Performative Teaching, Learning and Research at the University of Cork, Republic of Ireland which is organized by the scholarly journal Scenario.
The paper is entitled “L’Art pour L’Artiste. Staging the Artist in University Foreign Language Drama Productions”. All examples will be drawn from three Laurier German drama productions, among them the most recent one, Else and Franz (2012). Within the framework of a holistic concept of education, it explores the great epistemic value, the dramaturgical possibilities and the enormous bounty of pedagogical benefits, when foreign language students represent artists and writers on stage.
Dr. Alexandra Zimmermann has previously published in Scenario on the course concept of GM 220 (Performance in German) and on Laurier’s E.T.A. Hoffmann Fest and is a peer reviewer for the same journal.
