About Brent McFarlane ...

Brent McFarlane is a legendary member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Community.  After attending University of   Waterloo, he has been coaching Track and Field across Canada for many years. From volunteer coaching in the K-W area, to leading Canada’s team to the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics, Brent’s hard work has left a lasting effect on many.  Brent is the recipient of multiple awards, including the “Waterloo Award” and a “Special Recognition Award” from the Big Brothers of K-W. His work with our very own football team led them to winning the Yates Cup two years in a row, and helping us become the CIS Vanier Cup winner in 2004 and 2005.

About Laurier's MDRC ...

More than 100,000 Canadians have Parkinson’s disease, and it can affect people as young as 30. Laurier’s Movement Disorders Research and Rehabilitation Centre is the first centre to use research and rehabilitation to provide direct and immediate benefits for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders

“Stem cell research looks promising, but we may not see results for years. Our aim at the MDRC is to help patients right now.”  —Dr. Quincy Almeida, MDRC Director
