2008 Kinesiology Games

46 KPE Students Attended

Mar 27/08

Laurier sent 46 enthusiastic kinesiology students to Dalhousie University in Halifax to compete in the 2008 Kinesiology Games. Although we did not come out with the shoe we put forth a strong team and had some very positive results. Lauriers spirit and zest made us stand out as usual and be known that we were a strong competitor in the competition. Every team made it to the finals in their respective sports and the goal ball team placed 3rd overall. Laurier also made a strong appearance in both the academic competition and the round table discussion.

This years games emphasized adaptive sport and inclusive physical activity. Two of the five sports played throughout the weekend were adapted sports developed by students at Dalhousie University. Goal ball and Borden ball were both a huge hit at the games and helped bring awareness for the need of inclusive physical activity and how simple it can be to incorporate.

The games provided a fun filled weekend, while educating students on current issues in Kinesiology and physical activity and allowed students to interact with kinesiology students from around the country and share ideas and information about each others programs. Students are already enthused to attend next years games in Lethbridge Alberta and to bring the shoe back to Laurier.
