Laurier appoints new Director, ICT Support
Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
A notice issued on behalf of Tom Buckley, Assistant Vice-President: Academic Services
I am pleased to announce that Julie Topic has joined Wilfrid Laurier University as Director, ICT Support, effective Feb.14, 2011.
Julie has an impressive history of leadership in the area of information and communication technologies and is a welcome addition to the Information Technology Services team and the Laurier community. Julie will be based at the Brantford campus and will lead a multi-campus team providing user-support for the university.
I am also pleased to announce that Gary Wagner, Manager, Brantford ICT Support, has accepted a new assignment as Manager, Employee ICT Support for the faculty and staff in Waterloo and Kitchener. Gary will be responsible for the team charged with technical support for the Waterloo campus, the Kitchener-based Faculty of Social Work, and the Toronto office. Gary has led an impressive transition on the Brantford campus and this experience will be invaluable as we evolve and improve the support model university-wide.
Laurierís recently completed ICT Review recommended changes to our operating model. Under the new ITS organizational structure, Julie will lead the support team for ITS. The support team includes the following units: Brantford ICT Support (manager to be hired); Waterloo Student Support (Manager Melanie More-Duckworth); Kitchener/Waterloo Faculty and Staff Support (Manager Gary Wagner); and the university Switchboard (supervisor to be hired). This group will deliver services to all Laurier campuses and operations.
Please join me in welcoming Julie to Laurier and Gary in his new role on the Waterloo campus.
Tom Buckley, Assistant Vice-President: Academic Services
