Laurier's Brantford campus
Journalism grad published in This Magazine
Laurier Brantford journalism graduate Natalie Gallo truly took her learning outside the classroom.
Before graduating in June 2010, Gallo completed a fourth year Journalism Project course with Professor Bruce Gillespie, where students spent the majority of the two-semester course researching, interviewing and producing a large journalistic project such as a feature story or short documentary.
For her project, Gallo wrote an investigative feature story "Missed Conceptions," about Canadian couples struggling with infertility and whether fertility treatments should be publicly funded, which is now part of the cover package of the January/February 2011 issue of This Magazine (http://this.org).
This Magazine is considered one of Canada's premier arts and political magazines, as well as one of its oldest. It also has the distinction of having published the early works of a number of major writers, critics and artists, including Margaret Atwood, Naomi Klein, Rick Salutin, Clive Thompson and Tomson Highway.
Since graduating this past summer, Natalie has also become an editorial assistant at Holmes Magazine in Toronto.
