Congratulations to the fall 2012 graduands
Academic Medal Winners named
Congratulations to all 415 students graduating from the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, and to the winners of medals for academic excellence at the graduate level, to be awarded at the October 26 convocation ceremonies.
At the masterís level, the winners include Tyler Williams, MSc (Geography), Amy Hackney, MSc (Kinesiology), Deborah Hawksley, MMT, Annika Hillebrandt, MSc (Management), Richard Lindo, MSW, and Fiona Heath, MDiv. At the doctoral level, the winners include Marybeth White, PhD (Religious Studies), Susan Eckerle Curwood, PhD (Psychology), and Lawrence Martis, PhD (Social Work).
At Laurier, each fall, the top graduate student from either the spring or fall convocations is selected to receive the Governor-Generalís Academic Medal. For more than 125 years, the Governor Generalís Academic Medals have recognized the outstanding scholastic achievements of students in Canada. At Laurier, all nominees must have at least a 10.5 overall GPA in course work, with no grade less than an A- in any course. The thesis, dissertation or major research paper must be deemed outstanding by the examining committee, and other scholarly accomplishments such as presentations or publications in scholarly venues are considered.
This yearís winner of the Governor Generalís Academic Medal is Richard Janzen, PhD (Psychology). Richard received the gold medal for doctoral-level studies in the Faculty of Science at the spring 2012 convocation.
